CNN —Officials at Columbia University, facing surging tensions on campus that have raised safety concerns, have announced all classes will be virtual on Monday as Passover begins. Shafik has faced new calls for her resignation, and a rabbi linked to the university even urged Jewish students to stay home due to concerns about their safety. The crisis at Columbia amounts to a massive test for Shafik, who took the helm of the university less than a year ago. “It is crystal clear that Columbia University -previously a beacon of academic excellence founded by Alexander Hamilton - needs new leadership,” Stefanik said in a statement on Sunday. As Passover begins Monday, Jewish student organizations have increased security for their upcoming events and services.

AdvertisementBut former attorneys for Trump told The New York Times that his usual demeanor won't fly in a criminal trial — or, in Trump's case, his four criminal trials. "I would expect Trump to try to act up," former White House attorney Ty Cobb, who worked under Trump, told the Times. He and his criminal defense attorneys, Susan R. Necheles and Todd Blanche, must also avoid annoying the judge. However, it seems they have already succeeded in doing the complete opposite during a February hearing to set a date for the hush money trial. Judge Juan Merchan, overseeing the case, insisted that the attorneys stop mentioning Trump's schedule as a reason to delay the trial.

CNN —A 16-year-old student died following a fight at an Oklahoma high school – and as an investigation into the cause of death continues, advocates point to a heightened and hostile climate against the LGBTQ+ community. How damaging are all the renewed questions about age and mental acuity going to be? One Democratic member of the House responded to being told of the questions about age and memory raised in the report with a morbid laugh and sullen shake of the head. Today she’s typically described as a former advice columnist — but that term doesn’t really do justice to E. Jean Carroll’s career pre-Donald Trump. Long before she was one of the longest-serving advice columnists in America, Ms. Carroll blazed trails as a gonzo-style journalist The Times once called “feminism’s answer to Hunter Thompson.”She profiled Lyle Lovett and went camping with the notorious New York curmudgeon Fran Lebovitz for a cover story in Outside. She wrote a famous piece on Dan Rather for Esquire, appeared in the “Best American Best Crime Writing,” and was the first female contributing editor at Playboy — back when people really did read it for the articles. New York CNN —Hundreds of thousands of US airline customers were stranded this week as severe weather grounded planes and led to canceled flights. As of 8:30 am ET, FlightAware tracking service reported there were 687 flights canceled and another 1,200 delays.
